Burning Questions
You can use this space to ask any burning questions in addition to the physical space in the workshop room. For example, you may have a thought or question occur to you while out to dinner or during lunch. Post it here and I will answer it as soon as possible in the workshop.
Session 3 YouTube Reflection
- What do you like about using the flipping tool you chose?
- What frustrates you about it?
- How did you direct others to your videos? Was it successful? Could you monitor the activity?
- What did you think this was going to be like, then what was it really like?
- What are the implications for your IT and academic honesty policies?
Workshop Reflections
It's important to reflect on our learning, so here's a chance for you to do so at the end of the workshop. What are your major take-aways from this workshop? What areas do you still want to work on? Will you definitely try to flip your classroom(s)? How might you have your students reflect? What tools will you use? What did you find them most or least helpful? Feel free to wax nostalgic on any or all of these questions.

Why Flip?
Comment on this post to discuss Kathleen Fulton's article as well as what you think are the important reasons to flip. Feel free to use the questions in the activity description on the Day 1 page as a guide, but don't feel obligated to answer everything. What's important is that you take some time to reflect on why flipping can be successful and open that discussion with your colleagues.
What Is Flipping?
Flipped learning or flipped classroom means many things to many people. How would you describe flipped learning? Do you think there is a distinction between flipped learning and a flipped classroom? Did anything in the readings or the TED talk surprise you? Before leaving your comment, check out the definition and four pillars of flipped learning created by the folks at the Flipped Learning Network. Does this align well with all of the descriptions you've explored? Have your thoughts on what is flipped learning changed?
Tech Sharing
Find any cool resources or have any great tips for using Google Apps, YouTube, Vimeo, etc.? Share them here! My class motto is "Enlightened trial and error succeeds over the planning of the lone genius," so the more all of you can add to this workshop the better it will be than if I were to be the lone expert. Full disclosure, that line comes from an ABC Nightline news clip from 1999 called "The Deep Dive". You can watch it on YouTube or buy it from the ABC television network if you're interested.
Introductions
Hi everybody, I'm Paul Montbriand and I will be your guide for this workshop. This is my 8th year as a teacher, 2nd at the International School of Islamabad. In addition to 3 years teaching chemistry and physics in the U.S.A. I have spent 5 years teaching DP chemistry while picking up DP physics upon arrival in Islamabad. My interest in flipping started with an interest in educational technology. After exploring all the ways ed-tech could help me save paper and free up class time for authentic assessments I decided to do a complete flip. At first I was concerned about the large amount of front-loading I would have to do in preparation, but I was also excited about the possibilities, such as ease of differentiated instruction, which opened up as a result. I sincerely look forward to working with all of you and hope that you will find this workshop useful.
